Evaluation

Evaluations give you a plan with all of the right steps toward helping your child grow.

What is an Evaluation?

Evaluations, or “Evals,” are a formal series of tests used to measure where your child is currently in their learning development. These evaluations range depending on the child’s diagnosis and/or areas of concern.

Knowledge from the testing is utilized to determine the student’s individual goals and which programs from which your child would most benefit. Each student will have individualized short and long-term goals which can be updated in a monthly report for parents and the student’s doctor. Reports may also be e-mailed or faxed to the student’s teachers or other therapists upon request.

In addition, Spark Therapies therapists often include informal assessment measures to further determine where a student is in regards to a particular developmental skill. These informal assessments also evaluate a student’s learning style and help to determine to which types of cues a student best responds. This will assist in creating a treatment guideline and it will lead the style of future sessions.

Clients typically receive therapy once or twice weekly in a 30-60 minute session. Parents and caregivers are welcome to observe sessions and to ask questions.

Our therapy and enrichment programs strive drastically improve student’s skills, and we always have high expectations for our clients.

After completion of the evaluation, speech therapy, reading instruction, and/or occupational therapy will be provided by one of our specialists. All of the results from any of our evaluations will be available to your family and we are more than happy to fax copies of the evaluations to your child’s school, primary care physician, or other parties as you need. You will need to fill out a release prior to this information being released to any additional parties. For more information on this, please view our privacy policy and/or the client bill of rights available within the clinic.
